The TRG Porsche team had a day of mixed fortunes in the Rolex 24 at Daytona, securing a best of fourth place among their four entered 911s.
Leading the way was the number 66 entry driven by Steve Johnson, Robert Nearn, Cyrille Sauvage and Stephane Ortelli, who endured a comfortable race with little incident, with only a broken wheel requiring extended attention in the pit lane. Indeed, it was a good result considering the difficulties the team had in the practice days leading up to the main event.
"With the way that the three day test went and the practice days I'd say I would take fourth any day," Steven Johnson. "We really wanted third place after our tough practice days. The car really ran well and the four of us did a good job of keeping out of the pits and on the track to finish with a good result."
Elsewhere, the results were not so favourable with the number 67 car of Pat Flanagan, Marc Bullock, Bill Keith and Bhodan Kroczek finishing down in 14th place following a transmission change during the night stint. The result was dedicated to Dave Master, who was due to race in the car, but passed away in December.
