Citroen has revealed details of its convertible C5 Airscape concept – and Auto Trader has the first pictures.
The sleek four-seater features a carbon-fibre folding roof, 19-inch alloys, large air intakes, twin exhaust pipes and distinctive headlights.
And it’s green as well – Citroen has employed the UrbanHybrid system, as used in the C2 and C3, which allows on-board equipment, such as the air-con and sound system to be powered by energy recovered during braking and deceleration.
This helps reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 24g/km on a combined cycle and switches off the engine when the Airscape is stationary.
Available with a 2.7-litre diesel V6, the C5 – which is bio-diesel compliant – produces 208bhp.
While performance figures haven’t been quoted, we’d expect the C5 to accelerate from 0-62mph (100kph) in nine seconds and have a top speed of 140mph, while managing a combined 33mpg.
Citroen is keeping any shots of the interior under wraps for the time being, but claim the C5 will feature dark-brown leather, chrome, and an innovative selection of controls on the steering wheel incorporating touch sensitive buttons.
The Citroen C5 Airscape Concept will be officially unveiled at next month’s Frankfurt Motor Show.
We’ll be reporting live from Germany, so don’t forget to come back for all the news as it happens.
