SAO PAULO (Thomson Financial) - French carmaker Peugeot SA is to invest 500 mln usd in its Brazilian and Argentine production plants between now and 2010, as part of a plan to increase sales in Mercosur region, Peugeot's managing director for the region, Vincent Rambaud, said.
Speaking at a press conference in Rio de Janeiro, Rambaud said the group is planning to increase car sales to 300,000 units in Brazil and Argentina by 2010, from 160,000 in 2006, and boost market share to 11 pct from 7 pct previously.
The group is aiming to launch 12 new Citroen and Peugeot (other-otc: PEUGY.PK - news - people ) models in Mercosur by 2010, some of which will be developed locally.
