Before an all-new generation A3 is unveiled towards 2010, Audi's popular hatchback range is yet again to undergo a nip-tuck.

It will take design cues of the all-new A3 cabriolet, of which the first photos and info were released late last year.

We expect the facelifted A3 range (including the Sportback) to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March, with South African sales probably kicking off in second half of 2008.

With the fresh look, the A3 will be brought in line with the new Audi A4 and A5. The car will get a more aggressive front end, a newly designed single-frame grille and a redesigned front bumper.

Its headlights will be similar to that of the A3 drop-top featuring striking daylight running lights, inspired by those seen on the more S8 and R8 models. The indicators in the car's side mirrors will have tiny LED lights.

At the rear there will also be a minor makeover.

The engine range is expected to remain unchanged, but VW/Audi's new 7-speed DSG transmission could become available in the A3.
