Chevrolet Tavera prices hike between Rs 4,800 to Rs 7,800

[12/22/2005] General Motors India today announced an increase in prices, ranging from Rs 4,800 to Rs 7,800, of all models of its multi utility vehicle (MUV) Chevrolet Tavera from December 24.

Company Vice President P Balendran attributed the price hike to ''rise in input costs,'' an official release said.

Accordingly, Chevrolet Tavero B1-10 (lower-end variant) price (at Ex-factory) goes up by Rs 4,350 to Rs 5,95,097 and the upper-end variant D1-Elite up by Rs 7,800 to Rs 8,79,075.

All the prices is Ex-Delhi, introduced in India in 2003, under the banner ''For a Special Journey Called Life'', the Chevrolet brand was named ''The Best Automotive Brand of the Year 2004'' by BS Motoring. Besides Tavera, two other Chevy products, Optra Luxury sedan and Forester SUV have between them cornered seven awards to date.

GM India is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Motors Corporation.

Besides the Chevrolet Optra, GM India manufactures the Chevrolet Tavera, Opel Corsa and Opel Corsa Sail at its facility in Halol, Gujarat. It also sells the imported Opel Vectra and Chevrolet Forester.
