General Motors nipped Nissan Motor Co. as the top seller in Mexico for the second straight month, winning November's sales crown by a scant 80 vehicles.
In the entire Mexican market in November, 100,755 vehicles were sold. That is a 1.3 percent increase over November 2004.
Through 11 months, 985,065 vehicles have been sold in Mexico. That's an increase of 15.0 percent and means the industry is on pace to pass the 1 million mark in sales for only the second time. Last year, a record 1,095,742 vehicles were sold in Mexico.
GM sold 21,209 units in November, down 4.3 percent from the previous November.
Nissan sold 21,129, down 5.8 percent.
Third place
Ford Motor Co. was up 1.7 percent to 17,836 units.
Sales of vehicles produced in Mexico for the domestic market slipped 3.4 percent to 36.1 percent of the market. Imports made up 63.9 percent of last month's sales, a 4.2 percent increase.
GM is the best-selling automaker in Mexico this year with sales of 219,951 through the first 11 months, up 14.7 percent over 2004.
Nissan has sold 201,098 units, an 8.8 percent jump.
Ford sales totaled 174,890, a 35.2 percent surge.
